When looking at the differences or similarities between the 988 and 989, we see a few different aspects that will help our shoppers pick the one that is best suited for them.
989 Moto-V
We will start our description with the newest release - the 989 Moto-V. This helmet features a new modern shell design that has stronger more dynamic angles. The design has increased the overall dimensions of the shell, making this helmet better suited for broader bodied people. The best feature (in our opinion) of the 989 Moto-V is the inclusion of the Pinlock Anti-Fog Lens - this is going to give our riders the best riding experience for visibility. The Pinlock lens attaches itself directly to the inside of our Max Wide Vision Face shield. You can keep it on always, or remove it on dryer days when anti-fog isn't necessary. The face shield is spring loaded to lock in an airtight seal against weather and wind. Normal features that pop up on the 989 are the VIVS drop down integrated eyeshade, and the ratchet quick release system. If you are interested in the latest technology in helmet accessories and products, consider upgrading to the Pinlock ProtecTint, sun-reactive transition lens. The helmet is communication ready, with cutouts for Bluetooth or regular speakers.

988 Moto-1
Next up is our steady and very popular model - the 988 Moto-1. This helmet is smaller over all in diameter for a more proportionate fit for smaller bodied riders. While the 988 does not come stock with Pinlock anti-fog, we've updated the face shield making it Pinlock READY for to add the pinlock as an extra. The 988 has great reviews for comfort, quality of helmet, style, and general overall functionality. Like the 989, the 988 features the spring loaded face shield for protection against wind and weather, the VIVS Voss Integrated Visor System, and Ratchet quick release system. This helmet is also Communication system ready, with cutouts for speakers on the inside.
For Safety Certification, the 989 and 988 are both DOT as well as ECE certified. While the DOT is the base standard needed for North America, many riders are getting informed on the European Standards and how they differ from the DOT. We've seen an increase in inquiries about the ECE standard and have made a shift to have the standard put on whatever helmet is applicable! Voss currently does not do Snell standard for its' helmets. Currently we cater to a demographic that is more for casual riding, and not for Race Track or High Performance Riding.

I purchased the VOSS 988 helmet at the motorcycle show in Toronto 2-3 month ago from a shop, it looks amazing and has great features I love, also feels great. However I have a HUGE issue with the helmet, the wind noise buzzing in my ears is not normal, 2-3 days of riding (still pre-season here in Canada) and I have a constant humming / ringing noise in my ears as a result...
I believe this is due to wind finding its way inside from somewhere in the frame of the helmet since I close all the vents.
If VOSS can tell me and others how to fix this, I will be happy with the helmet, even if it is taping the vents from the inside, just please let us know. There are other comments like that about the 988 on YouTube and forums I only see it now. I am happy to pay more to replace parts if needs, VOSS please help, it is a good product, don't want to get rid of it...
